Visualistic - 3D visualisation.

Visualistic offers a unique approach to visualisation in web and print, allowing users to apply materials (e.g fabrics, carpets, paint, etc.) to surfaces within an existing image to create their own designs.

The idea for Visualistic was born out of a problem. In 2005 Getme were presented with a project by the leading carpet manufacturer Brintons, they wanted to be able to show people how a carpet repeated when fitted in a room.

The traditional method is room set photography, which is expensive, and impractical with such a large range of possible carpet and colour combinations.

A new approach

The solution was to map a 2D image with 3D surfaces. New materials can then be rendered into a 3D environment and composited with the existing 2D image.

Multiple carpets applied in Visualistic

To produce a realistic effect Visualistic uses a patented algorithm when mapping the 3D data to the 2D image which ensures that existing lighting and texture information is not lost and only colour is replaced.

Developing a 3D environment

Visualistic's powerful 3D IDE (Integrated Development Environment) allows both simple surfaces (e.g floors & walls) and more complex surfaces (e.g stairs) to be mapped within a 2D image.

Visualistic IDE

The IDE is specifically designed to make it easy for designers more used to a 2D environment to adapt and start building in 3D without a steep learning curve (see our getting started guide).

From within the IDE, designs can be modified and visualised in quick succession, aiding prototyping and allowing designers to identify issues before production.

If the in-house skills to develop Visualistic images are not available we can provide them.

A realistic result

Visualistic can be used for print quality imagery as well as web output.

The production and render times for print work are higher due to the nature of the print medium. However, it is still often significantly faster to use Visualistic than rendering a photorealistic image in a traditional 2D/3D CAD application.

Example of a print quality render

Though photography will always provide the truest image, Visualistic is cost effective and quick, allowing print imagery to be produced for limitless material combinations.

New designs can be displayed in situ, at print quality, as soon as they're finished, ideal for press & PR use.

Design for the masses

So the design department can use Visualistic to try out new ideas quickly, but what about customers?

Visualistic has a web browser interface so customers can use either pre-defined materials to re-design a room, or can upload their own designs and colours (see the Online demonstration).

Providing customers with the facility to create their own designs from the comfort of their home (or anywhere else with internet access) using your products and imagery, provides a unique and valuable customer experience.

Seeing is believing. You can try Visualistic via the online demonstration or in our relevant case studies and related links.

We would like to thank Brintons Limited for allowing us to use their imagery within this article.
