University of Worcester talk
6th January 2009
Recently I had the great pleasure of giving a short informal talk on the subject of Usability testing for the web to students on the creative digital media course at Worcester University.
The talk concentrated on providing a practical overview of usability testing in a commercial environment, and highlighted both ideal practises, as well as providing advice on how to make the most of realistic budget and time-scale constraints.
Throughout the talk I was able to draw on a wealth of experiences from working with Getme's clients over the last eleven years, and this helped to provide relevant examples of the theory in action.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and a learning experience for both myself and, I hope at least, the students.
Andy Stevenson, who is a senior lecturer in design at the university, is running a number of projects to provide his students with commercial insight, which I believe is of great benefit for students who will come under vastly different and greater pressures once they graduate and start careers in the commercial sector.
